Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to The Liver Week 2027, which will be held from June 3 to 5, 2027, at COEX in Seoul, Korea.
Since its launch in 2014, The Liver Week has grown into one of the leading multidisciplinary liver meetings in the Asia-Pacific region. It is jointly organized by the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL), the Korean Liver Cancer Association (KLCA), the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBPS), and the Korean Liver Transplantation Society (KLTS).
The Liver Week 2027 holds special significance as the inaugural meeting of the Asia Liver Meeting Alliance (ALMA), a new partnership among leading liver societies in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and other Asian countries. This alliance opens new opportunities to share expertise and develop research collaborations across Asia. We invite you to be part of this first gathering and help turn our collective experience into advances in liver care worldwide.
We have prepared an exceptional scientific program. Our invited faculty includes presidents of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and editors from The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology. This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from leaders advancing liver care and to gain insight into what makes research compelling to the world’s leading medical journals. Covering viral hepatitis, steatotic liver disease, liver cancer, surgery, and transplantation, the program will connect the latest scientific advances with questions that matter in everyday clinical practice.
We expect more than 2,000 participants from approximately 40 countries, creating a vibrant international forum for exchanging ideas and building new collaborations. Whether you are an established expert or beginning your career, we invite you to share your work and explore partnerships that can continue well beyond the meeting.
Beyond the scientific sessions, we hope you will take time to enjoy Seoul. COEX places you in the heart of Gangnam, with the iconic Starfield Library within the complex and the 1,200-year-old historic Bongeunsa Temple just across the street. The cafés and boutiques of Cheongdam-dong and Apgujeong, riverside walks along the Han River, and exceptional Korean cuisine offer memorable ways to experience the city and its warm hospitality.
I look forward to welcoming you to Seoul in June 2027 and to a meeting that leaves you with fresh ideas and lasting connections.
Sincerely
Congress President, The Liver Week 2027
President, The Korean Association for the Study of the Liver

| Time | Korea is 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +9) and does not observe daylight savings time. |
| Weather in June |
June marks the beginning of a hot and humid summer season in Korea. Temperatures are warm but not yet sweltering, with an average high of 79°F (26°C) and an average low of 61°F (16°C). Similarly, humidity climbs to 70% this month but will not peak until July, when it can reach 90%. June's moderate weather compared to the other summer months makes it an ideal time to visit, as travelers can enjoy seasonal activities like beachgoing without experiencing the blistering heat that Korean summers are known for. |
| Currency and Foreign Exchange | The unit of Korean currency is the Korean Won (₩). Coin denominations are ₩10, ₩50, ₩100, and ₩500. Banknotes are ₩1,000, ₩5,000, ₩10,000, and ₩50,000. (*approximate exchange rate: ₩1,450=USD1.00) |
| Electricity | The electricity supply commonly used in Korea is the 220-volt 60Hz system. Because most newly built hotels and houses have the 220-volt wiring installed, you are advised to check your electronic equipment beforehand. |
| Tip & Tax | Service charges are included in your bill for rooms, meals, and other services at hotels and upscale restaurants. Koreans occasionally do tip when they are especially pleased with the service they receive. Foreign tourists can receive nearly 10 % VAT refunds for purchases at Duty Free shops. Goods must be taken out of Korea within three months of purchase to be eligible for a tax refund. Visitors can receive a refund on a receipt for a minimum purchase of KRW 50,000 (around USD 40.00). To receive this refund, present receipts with the purchased goods at the customs clearance desk at Incheon International Airport when departing. |
| Visa | Visitors entering the Republic of Korea (ROK) must hold a valid passport and visa to enter the country. Nationals of visa waiver or visa-free countries may enter the country without a visa for tourism purposes only. For any other purposes, such as employmentor education, proper visas are required. Nationals of non-visa waiver countries must apply for visas at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate prior to entering the ROK. VISA INFORMATION |
